Coming Round

never performed live

Released on Higher Than Reason, 2/2/1998.

In spite of what they said to you
There is a new thing coming.
And I can't explain it
But if you just listen,
Leave open your windows and doorways,
He told me that if we care
And want it enough
It'll be coming round in a while.

You think that if there's no name for it
Must be that it isn't there.
But sometimes
The teachers,
The popscience,
The bible,
The hammer and sickle
Are wide of the mark.
And you have to stand back
And tell yourself
It'll be coming round in a while.

Sometimes
The teachers,
The popscience,
The bible,
The hammer and sickle
Are wide of the mark.
And you have to stand back
And tell yourself
It'll be coming round in a while.
Tell yourself
It'll be coming round in a while.

"ANDY:Actually, I think I dislike hmm…what's it called ? Coming round even more than Revolution, there you go, I dunno why. I think Revolution was a good song that went wrong but Coming round was never a particularly good song, it's just very average.
NIGEL : I've got this great dictaphone tape of us writing Coming round when it had this big weird middle eight that all of us failed to play all at once and it's very very amusing to listen to, it just turns into an utter cacophony about half way through with all three of us just gaily keep playing even though we're playing different chords at different times. It's good !" (Anelyse's enormous interview, Belgium, january 1999)
"Very average" is probaly the best way to describe this song. Not really bad but not original at all.
