Shed Your Skin

performed live since april 1998 (?)

2nd LP

Tomorrow you could be reborn.
Then an explosion of sensation.
Is that what you want?
Sight and taste and sound.
Burning up your newborn baby self

Shed your skin.
Maybe it'd do you a service.
But underneath you know that it'd mean nothing to me.

Tomorrow you could be reborn.
You'd better seize the opportunity.
Maybe useless flesh always dragged you down.
Mirrors always break in your resolve.

Shed your skin.
Maybe it'd do you a service.
But underneath you know that it'd mean nothing to me.
Nothing masks some needs to be hidden.
No one crowds you out.

Shed your skin.
Maybe it'd do you a service.
But underneath you know that it'd mean nothing to me.
Cause nothing beats the one you were given.
No one crowds you out.

A fantastic new song. Definitely one of the most beautiful and moving Unbelievable Truth songs.
Laura (from the band Soma) sings on this track.

" ANELYSE:Are you going to put some songs you perform live like " Landslide ", " Shed your skin " , " Whose side are you on " on the album ?
NIGEL : Yes, unless we write some really really supa duppa tunes they'd get knocked off. But I can't really see that happening. I think both " Shed your skin " and " Landslide " are kind of dead certs, they're totally really definite to be on the album.
(...)
ANELYSE: Which songs do you enjoy playing the most live ?
(...)
NIGEL : I enjoy " Shed your skin " 'cos it's new and I think it's beautiful
(...)
JASON : Well, I like " Shed your skin " particularly because, as a failed guitarist, 'cause that's what all bass players are, they're failed guitarists, I get to play guitar, which is great ! So there you go…
*Nigel is laughing* " (Anelyse's enormous interview, Brussels, january 1999)
